Module-integrated power electronics are Hoymiles' core business: Founded in 2012, the manufacturer builds inverters that sit directly under the solar module instead of being mounted centrally on the building wall. Around 2.200 people work there, more than a third of them in research and development. Systems using this technology are operating in over 190 countries and regions. PV-24 is currently expanding the brand's product range.

The complete Hoymiles brand range at PV-24

Hoymiles' product range is defined by three lines. The HiFlow and HiFlow Pro series microinverters cover 300 to 2000 W, complemented by three-phase hybrid devices in the HIT series and battery systems in the HiBattery family. If you require a specific type, simply provide us with the model name and quantity. We can procure Hoymiles inverters upon request and will provide you with a price and delivery date in advance.

We continue to offer central inverters for entire roof areas in parallel. The two designs are not mutually exclusive. Many systems combine a central unit on the main roof area with module-level technology in areas where dormers or trees cast shadows.

In the Zillertal valley, we regularly encounter roofs that are too small or too fragmented for a classic string configuration. There, each module delivers exactly what it can under its own specific conditions. For existing buildings, there's a second advantage: a roof area can later be expanded by two or three modules without replacing the existing inverter.

Hoymiles' modular technology instead of a central string solution

A string inverter combines several modules into a row and regulates them collectively. Where a single module is shaded, the yield of the entire string decreases. Hoymiles devices reverse this principle, as each unit uses two to four separate MPP trackers.

This leads to a second difference. On the roof, the module voltage remains at around 60 V; long high-voltage strings with several hundred volts DC are never generated. A common AC line then leads to the meter.

How do you keep track of your energy yields? A DTU gateway collects the measurement data from each individual device and transmits it to the Hoymiles S-Miles Cloud. There, you can see each module separately , which significantly reduces troubleshooting time across large areas. Comparable devices from other manufacturers are listed in the Microinverters category. Gateways, connectors, and extension cords can be found in the Microinverter Accessories subcategory.

Hoymiles compared to classic string inverters

Before ordering, the fundamental question of system architecture must be addressed, as it determines yield, costs, and maintenance requirements for the next 20 years. A complex roof with varying orientation? Then modular technology pays for itself faster than on an open south-facing surface. The comparison shows where the differences actually lie in daily operation:

Criterion Micro Inverters String inverter
Shading This only affects the shaded module. reduces the performance of the entire string
Tension on the roof Module voltage around 60 V up to several hundred volts DC
Expansion Possible in modules usually only from a whole string onwards
Device failure 1 to 4 modules affected The plant is completely shut down.
Mounting location under the module, outdoors basement, garage or house wall

Hoymiles therefore scores points with small, irregularly shaped surfaces and in retrofitting. For an unobstructed south-facing surface of around 10 kWp or more, a central unit remains the more economical choice because fewer units need to be purchased and later replaced. With three or more differently oriented sections, the calculation usually tips in favor of the module-located unit. However, replacing a unit then means work on the module on the roof, not on the unit in the basement.

Correctly match performance classes and number of modules

How many modules can a device handle? That's precisely where every system design begins. The Hoymiles HMS 1600 4T powers four modules via four dedicated MPP trackers and delivers up to 1600 VA. Since each channel can handle up to 14 A, modules with 320 to 540 W are compatible. The MPPT efficiency is 96,7%.

Four 450 W modules deliver 1800 Wp to a 1600 VA output unit. This oversizing is intentional because modules only reach their rated power under standard conditions and remain below this on average throughout the year. As soon as the irradiance reaches its maximum, the unit briefly reduces the peak output. Over the course of the year, this has a negligible impact on energy yield. The housing has an IP67 rating and is rated for temperatures from -40 to 65 °C; it contains no fans.

Plug-and-play systems follow their own logic: In Austria, simplified registration depends on an inverter output of 800 W. Complete balcony power plant kits include perfectly matched sets of modules, mounting hardware, and the inverter. We will determine which Hoymiles model is compatible with your existing modules based on the open-circuit voltage and short-circuit current from the datasheet.

Buyer protection, returns and warranty clearly regulated

If you're interested in purchasing Hoymiles inverters, the first step is to send us a brief inquiry. We'll provide you with the price, delivery time, and unit size upfront. For a complete system, we'll compile the bill of materials, including modules, mounting structure, and the number of units required. We're also happy to answer any questions you may have about combining Hoymiles with other products, even if the modules are from a different supplier.

How is the purchase protected? Trusted Shops protects every order with full buyer protection, and all devices are covered by the manufacturer's warranty. We handle complaints directly with the manufacturer instead of referring you to a service address abroad. If an item doesn't fit, we will accept its return within the statutory period.

For electrical contractors, we calculate the B2B pricing based on the requested quantity. Matthias Schiestl and his team are available weekdays from 9 am to 12 pm, by phone, WhatsApp, or chat. If you prefer to pick up Hoymiles equipment yourself, simply request an appointment in Zell am Ziller.
