The Fronius OVERVOLTAGE PROTECTION (GEN24) is a DC surge protector type I + II specifically designed for Fronius Symo GEN24 Plus and Primo GEN24 Plus inverters. It reliably protects the PV system from direct and indirect lightning strikes and meets the standard requirement for installing DC surge protection near the inverter.

The surge protection device is supplied as a retrofit kit and can be easily installed in the inverter's connection area. With integrated remote signaling (via Fronius Solar.web), the system operator receives a notification when the device is triggered – a safe, standards-compliant solution for modern photovoltaic systems.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

The surge protection type 1+2 for direct and indirect lightning strikes is suitable for use with the inverters Fronius Symo GEN24 Plus and Fronius Primo GEN24 Plus (all power classes) and thus meets
the standard requirement to install DC surge protection near the inverter.

If the cable length exceeds 10 meters (= effective range of the DC SPD) from the roof inlet to the inverter installation location, then - according to DIN VDE 0100-712 - an overvoltage protection device must be installed (additionally) on the DC side as close as possible to the inverter.

The surge protection can be used equally for all devices, regardless of whether 1 or 2 trackers are used. When operating with only one tracker, one input on the surge protection remains unused.
Thanks to the adjustable, integrated remote signaling, the system operator receives an automatic message via the Fronius Solar.web online portal when the surge protection is triggered.

The surge protection is delivered as a retrofit kit and can be installed in the connection area of the inverter in just a few minutes.
