SunFUSE surge protection boxes for reliable protection of your PV system

The SunFUSE product range includes variants for 1 to 4 MPP trackers, ensuring you'll find the right protection solution for any system configuration. All models feature a status indicator for visual function monitoring and allow integration into surveillance systems. The temperature range of -40°C to +85°C enables operation even under extreme climatic conditions. The compact design, with a width of only 18 mm per MPP, allows for space-saving mounting on standard DIN rails in distribution boards and inverter cabinets.

Buy SunFUSE surge protectors at a great price

In the PV-24 online shop, you can purchase SunFUSE surge protectors at attractive prices with free shipping to Austria and Germany for orders over €300. The Basic series starts at €160,80 for the PVB 1MPP T2 variant and is suitable for smaller, single-string systems. For multi-string configurations, models with 2 to 4 MPPs are available, with prices ranging from €272,40 to €624 depending on the features. All devices undergo functional testing before shipping and are supplied with the necessary installation instructions.

The PRO series offers advanced features such as remotely monitored status messages and lifespan indicators, enabling predictive maintenance planning. Tool-free PushIN installation minimizes installation time, saving time and money, especially when retrofitting existing systems. Delivery is available throughout Europe within 3 to 5 working days, with larger quantities available to installation companies upon request at special B2B rates. All SunFUSE products in the range are currently certified according to EN 61643-11, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety standards.

Surge protection with SunFUSE for maximum system safety

Type 1 and Type 2 surge protection devices form the first line of defense against damage from atmospheric discharges and power grid disturbances. SunFUSE surge protection boxes combine both protection classes in a single device, achieving discharge currents of up to 40 kA per MPP input. The multi-stage protection design with spark gap and varistor technology ensures a response time in the nanosecond range and limits the residual voltage to non-critical values below 2,5 kV. This reliably protects sensitive inverter electronics from damage and prevents costly failures.

The galvanic isolation between the DC-side inputs and the grounding conductor prevents equalizing currents and potential shifts in the system. A color-coded LED indicates when a protection module is triggered: green indicates operational readiness, and red indicates that replacement is required. The contact interface allows connection to monitoring systems and triggers automatic service messages when necessary. With a service life of 15 to 20 years under normal load, SunFUSE surge protectors offer long-term protection without regular maintenance intervals, although the actual service life depends on the number of surge events.

SunFUSE surge protectors with modern PushIN technology

The tool-free PushIN connection technology revolutionizes the installation of surge protection devices, reducing assembly time by up to 60 percent compared to conventional screw terminals. Conductors with a cross-section of 0,2 mm² to 6 mm² can be inserted directly into the spring-loaded terminals, where they are securely fixed by a self-locking mechanism. Actuating the orange push buttons allows for residue-free disconnection without damaging the conductors. This technology is particularly suitable for flexible cables and stranded conductors, which tend to experience cross-sectional reduction when used with screw terminals.

Connection follows the proven scheme with positive lead at the upper terminal, negative lead in the middle, and PE connection at the lower contact. Color coding of the connection points in red, black, and green-yellow prevents confusion and speeds up commissioning. SunFUSE integrates test terminals into each module, allowing continuity and insulation measurements to be performed without disassembly. The transparent cover protects the connections from accidental contact and contamination, while remaining accessible for visual inspection. Standardized module widths of 18 mm enable seamless integration into existing distribution board setups alongside circuit breakers and residual current devices.

Various MPP options are available for SunFUSE surge protectors.

The selection of the appropriate MPP variant depends on the number of string inputs on the inverter and the system topology. Single-string systems up to 6 kWp require the compact PVB 1MPP version, which, with a width of 36 mm, fits into any standard distribution board. Dual-string configurations from 8 kWp upwards use the PVB 2MPP version, while larger systems with 3 or 4 strings require the corresponding multi-string models. Each MPP input has separate protection channels and its own status indicators, so that if one channel is triggered, the remaining strings remain protected and the system does not need to be completely shut down.

The voltage withstand capability is 1000 V DC for all variants, meeting the requirements of modern high-voltage string inverters. The maximum continuous current is 20 A per MPP input, covering module outputs up to 400 Wp in standard configurations. For special requirements such as ground-mounted systems with long cable runs or increased lightning risk, the PRO series with enhanced discharge capacities of 50 kA is recommended. The combination of T1 and T2 protection in a single housing saves space and cabling effort compared to separate solutions, while cascading with additional Type 3 devices on the inverter remains optional for maximum safety.

MPP variant Plant performance Construction width Leakage current Price from
PVB 1MPP 3 to 6 kWp 36 mm 40 n / a 160,80 €
PVB 2MPP 6 to 12 kWp 54 mm 40 n / a 272,40 €
PVB 3MPP 12 to 20 kWp 72 mm 40 n / a 504,00 €
PVB 4MPP 20 to 30 kWp 90 mm 40 n / a 624,00 €

The table shows the assignment of surge protection variants to typical system sizes with their corresponding technical parameters. When selecting a device, you should plan for a safety margin of 20 percent of the actual system power to accommodate future expansions. The width determines the required space in the distribution board, with an additional 50 mm of lateral clearance recommended for installation and maintenance. All variants feature identical connection diagrams, which simplifies inventory management and offers flexibility for projects with different inverter types.
